When can my child join Scouting?

The starting age for Beavers is usually 6, but this will depend upon the individual Scout Group's own waiting list policies. Looking ahead, children can join Cubs from around the age of 8 and Scouts from 10 and a half. Explorer Scouting starts at 14 and runs until Scouts are 18.

 Here at 1st Footscray Scouts we are quite flexible with our age brackets in that Beavers can start in the three months before their 6th birthday and can move up to become a Cub Scout, if they are ready, from as early as seven and a half.
