1st Foots Cray Scout Group Receive Grant

15th April 2014

1st Foots Cray Scout Group Receive Grant a cheque from Bexley Council's Small Grant Scheme for £1,000 to help cover part of the cost incurred in the recent repairs to the driveway.

As members will be aware over the last winter the approach driveway to the 1st Foots Cray Scout Group became increasingly rutted and difficult to use. With many parent's finding their cars getting struck and unable to negotiate the steep rutted incline past the bend in the driveway, the Executive Committee took the decision to have the driveway repaired.

The repair works were carried out by Jays Groundworks of Tunbridge Wells in February and March this year, along with other works to prevent the HQ from water ingress. These additional works included replacing the underground pipework and old soakaway, as well as putting in a land drain at the back of the HQ to redirect groundwater away from the back wall of the HQ.

The grant received from Bexley Council's Small Grant Scheme is much appreciated and will help to offset some of the costs involved in repairing the driveway. Fundraising activities are being carried out by the Group to help contribute towards the other costs.
